Last Wednesday In Mcminnville

Riding into Mcminnville last Wednesday in the early morning was a treat; the sun had just come up and the day ahead promised to be a full one. I had headed down to help out Tahmiene Momtazi rack off some white pinot noir and tidy up a bit around the cellar. She surprised me with some lovely first of the season Oregon strawberries for breakfast, they were sweet and fragrant. After finishing the work in the cellar I headed out to catch a few photos of Momtazi Vineyard in the midday spring sun. A lot of work is ahead but it’s days like these at Momtazi that ready me for what is to come. Bud Break at Momtazi Vineyard

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Bud break is in full swing at Momtazi vineyard. As I strolled through it looked as though everything was waking up from slumber. Grasses, clover, and flowers all lush and verdant. The first peaks of spring colors coming up in the most unexpected places. The vines are also coming back to life, putting out the hint of leaves. Tiny buds dotted every vine, a fine sight to see. In talking with Moe Momtazi it looks like we are two weeks ahead of last years bud break.  Let’s hope Mother Nature stays on course for this vintage.
